CAPRA (Comité de Agua Potable Rural de Atacama – Atacama´s Rural Potable Water Committee) wants to inform their users that potable water supply outages are due to the second stage of the integral potable water project of San Pedro de Atacama, which contemplates the total replacement of the Rocalit water matrix that exists in the town (around 7 Km pipes).

The purposes of this project are:
- To give a 24 hrs water supply
- To increase the water pressure
- To give a water supply to those families that still don`t have this elemental service.

Is important to say that the lifetime of the Rocalit water matrix has passed, and any work with heavy machinery near to it causes weakening and cracking on the pipeline.

CAPRA has implemented 24 hrs shifts to avoid inconveniences to users and to reset the water supply in a quickly and efficient way each time this is being interrupted.

Nevertheless, is always recommended to store water in an adequate container for any eventuality.

Scheduled water outages will be previously informed by local radio stations (Orígenes and Toconao Radio).
